Just Natural Organic Care Giveaway

Welcome to the Just Natural Organic Care Giveaway!

*~ 3 products of your choice! ~*

Hosted by: Savory Savings

Sponsored by: Just Natural Organic Care

Just_natural_logo
Just_natural_productsAs a society, we are seemingly more worried about what we put into our bodies – you see a bigger push for stores and even restaurants to offer organic, all-natural and gluten-free foods, but I wonder, does that same desire for chemical-free living extend to our body care products as well?  Pick up any bottle of “mainstream” shampoo and you may find yourself face to face with a list of ingredients that you cannot pronounce, or that contain harsh agents such as parabens, alcohol, and sulfates, just to name a few.  If we demand all-natural products for the inside, we should do the same for the outside!  Just Natural Organic Care offers a full line of hair and skin products made from organic ingredients, as well as being free of sulfates, parabens, alcohol and gluten!  In addition to that, they are also vegan and cruelty-free!  Krista over at Savory Savings had the chance to try out Just Natural Organic Care’s psoriasis line of haircare products including the shampoo, conditioner, vinegar rinse and body soap!  Be sure to check out her full review as she shares about softer hair and an itch-free scalp for the whole family!
Would you like to win three products of your choice from Just Natural Organic Care?  Enter with the Giveaway Tool below!  This giveaway is open to US residents only, ages 18 and older.  The giveaway will run from November 13, 2013 through November 27, 2013 at 11 PM CST.

Their goal is to produce educational books that teach young children how to recognize letters and spell their names, in addition to building their self-esteem through personalized books that celebrate the uniqueness of each child! I See Me! books are popular among celebrities including Courtney Cox, Brooke Shields and Jessica Alba. I had the opportunity a little while back to review the I See Me! personalized puzzle with my youngest son, Tre. He loves sports, loves puzzles, so I was thrilled to be able to get him the new Kick, Score, Run! personalized puzzle. You can read our review here. What I love about the I See Me! products is that you can bundle products with the same theme, or purchase a gift set. My son, for instance, is a sports fan. He loved the puzzle, and I could purchase him a matching lunch box as well as a placemat!
A lot of the products also have matching books, making this an excellent gift to give that special little person in your life! I remember the first time I received a coordinated gift set from my nana - it was a complete desk set. Desk pad, pencil holder, clip holder, calendar, paper pad, and a matching pen with a stand. I thought I was the luckiest girl in the world! Want to be informed whenever a new product is added to the store, or an awesome discount promotion is upcoming? Eczema Healing Set Giveaway ends 11/22/13

Welcome to the Eczema Healing Set Giveaway!

What is eczema?   Eczema is a chronic skin condition in which the skin becomes itchy, reddened, cracked and dry. Approximately 30% of all skin-related GP visits in Western Europe result in a diagnosis of atopic eczema. It affects both males and females equally, as well as people from different ethnic backgrounds. Most GPs (general practitioners, primary care physicians) in Western Europe, North America and Australia say the number of people diagnosed each year with eczema is has been rising in recent years.

With dry skin and eczema running high during the winter months, it is important to take good care of your skin.  This is even more so, for those with moderate to severe eczema that flares easily.  Krista over at Savory Savings recently had the chance to check out The Eczema Company - your new one stop shop for all things itchy skin related!  She reviewed the "On The Spot" eczema stick balm and loved how easy it was to apply (even kids can do it!) and that it was not greasy!  This product is great for chapped cheeks from wind, dry/cracked knees and elbows and little patches of stubborn dry skin.  Be sure to check out the full review on Savory Savings!

If you would like to protect your skin from becoming dry and itchy, or would like to heal it, check out this Eczema Healing Set giveaway!  Valued at nearly $40 this set includes On The Spot, a honey skin cream and an olive oil soap!  This would make a beautiful gift or fantastic addition to your daily beauty routine to ensure healthy and smooth skin.  If you would like to enter to win, use the Giveaway Tool below.  This giveaway is open to US residents only, ages 18 and older.  The giveaway will run from November 8, 2013 through November 22, 2013 at 11 PM CST.

THANKFUL Thursday

Why THANKFUL Thursday?  Actually everyday should be thankful.  But at this time of year we have amazing amounts of people who disregard what Thanksgiving means and they turn to athletic games on tv for their focus and stuffing as much food into themselves as possible and napping.  So...  I am here to join forces with THOSE who wish to be thankful and not focus on out the other distractions of the day.

When I grew up Thanksgiving meant a ton of stress (as did any holiday in my home) because my mom is a ball of stress and she is finally retired now and living the leisure life although she's still doing more than she should.  I pray for her and love her.

My cousins would come over and any amount of visitors for the day was expected.  My sister and I would try to keep up in the kitchen for the demands of the meal.  We set a lovely table every year.  And as usual, we would stuff ourselves full of the good food that everyone contributed to the meal.

And then my cousins and my sister and  I would play and the adults would talk and have fun.   There was no alcohol in the home but you would swear that they were drinking and having the best time.  I'm glad that they could have the best time every without the need of alcohol!

In my married life, my mother in law (God rest her soul as of 2/15/13) would take her husband and my husband and I out to dinner.  We would then go back to her place and talk over the tv that her husband would blast.  Finally I got tired of that kind of Thanksgiving and took the meal and talking to my home.  Things were quiet and the tv was on for Bill but much lower than he listened to it.

Life moves on and my mother in law develops cancer of the colon and has surgery and all the chemo and then we have to place her in the nursing home on Hospice and her "husband" (they just lived together forever!) moved to a care unit near his son here in California.

So we then had wonderful Thanksgiving meals with my mother in law and enjoyed peace and quiet of the day and really treated the times we always had together as very thankful people!  We were thankful year round and did things (such as Random Acts of Kindness) and baked and cooked food for the staff at the nursing home and started our outreach to the "women's and children's crisis shelter" of which will not be named due to privacy.

So today I am thankful for life given to me by God.  Thankful for each day that He gives me to live for Him.  I pray that my days will better reflect His love for all and that I will be all that He wants me to be.

Fromm Four-Star Nutritionals Grain-Free Lamb with Cranberry Recipe Dog Treats REVIEW

During the month of October, 2013 I had the opportunity to review the Fromm Four-Star Nutrtitionals Grain-Free Lamb with Cranberry Recipe Dog Treats.   This was my dog's, Sandie, first time having any of their products.  This was a 5-star rating out of 5 and we will order these for the shelter dogs that we give to.  They eat healthy dog food and this just enhances their diet.
We love that they are  healthy, gourmet-kitchen inspired treats made with oven broasted lamb, cranberries, apples, veggies, and parsley. We give apples and cranberries in a treat we make and they give a big antioxidant boost, and beets and other fresh veggies help absorb all of the nutrients these grain-free treats have.
We don't use a grain-free diet with Sandie at this time.  But we do make our own dog treats that are grain-free and these are on the same quality level as the ones that we make for her.

Apple Cinnamon Detox Water

HOW MANY OF YOU are looking for good tips that help you when you need to drink more water?  I'm not talking about the water in coffee or tea (and not that soda pop of course!)   I'm doing this too, not just telling you to do it.

Cinnamon and Apples are a natural metabolism booster and this will be a great drink to help you detoxify! I'll start the talk about detoxifying but you should then go to a certified nutritionist (not someone who is selling a diet) and learn more and ALWAYS under the care of your doctor.

Oh also did you know eating one apple is like having one cup of coffee so this drink gives you tons of energy also! (I'm not telling you to quit drinking coffee, I'm just suggesting THIS as your first drink of the morning and then maybe drink 1 cup of coffee and then another cup of this!)  Then walk.   I start with 10 mins a day, with few stops (like walking your dog).  This is DAY ONE, Morning.  Then continue with a good natural diet such as The Dash Diet.  In the days ahead I'll talk with you about The Dash Diet

And I think now is a good time to shed some weight before that Thanksgiving Meal (we all know we eat too well!)

Cinnamon and Apple Drink
Here’s what you’ll need…..

2 apples- whatever kind you like
2 cinnamon sticks (don't shake cinnamon into your water, you
    need to use sticks)
1 large water pitcher or jug

Slice up your apples and place them in a jug with 2 of the sticks. Fill up to the top with water. Let infuse over night. You can also try boiling the apple and cinnamon before putting it in your water infuser or jug, it really releases the flavor more, then just add it to ice! This will also move up the process if you forgot to do it at night and want to have that day.

You can refill with water 3-4 times before throwing out the apple and cinnamon sticks and starting over. Drink a whole jug or pitcher a day! Spread this out over the day. Enjoy!

YOU SHOULD START ALL "diets" under the direct supervision of your Doctor.

Disclaimer:  I am sharing advice based on what I can do for myself under the direction of my Dr.  All that I'm sharing here is how to drink more water and make it tasty and good for you!  I am not held responsible for any way that you use my words of advice. Nor is the Internet!

The day that CHOBANI went bad and FAGE took it's place forever!

spoiled chobani
I usually eat a Chobani a day.  But ever since I was product testing the Fage Greek Yogurt, I told my husband that I would eat what he had purchased for me the next week (plenty of time on the package to eat it).  WOW!  Today the notice about the recall comes out and I had him go into the refrig. and pull them off the shelf (10 of them) and of that amount 5 looked like the one in the above picture and so he returned them all and received $14. and some change for them.

Thursday he went back and picked up 7 of the Fage and they cost $1.49 each just like the Chobani so that's a little more than we're really happy paying for our yogurt.  But I will continue to buy the large size which gives me more yogurt than the small cups.

I would have done this for BzzAgent but they have so many ways to tell you how to do it for them that it took away the creativity in which I use to post.

I would like to share some great yogurt recipes that you can make using FAGE or any GREAT GREEK YOGURT!

 FROZEN YOGURT RECIPES

Banana Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas about 3 large
2 teaspoons lemon juice
2 cups vanilla yogurt
1-2 tablespoons honey or to taste
Directions:
In large bowl, combine bananas, lemon juice, yogurt and honey.
Chill at least 4 hours.
Pour into ice cream maker and follow directions for freezing.

Frozen Blueberry Yogurt

Ingredients:
2 1/2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries, thawed
2 1/2 cups plain yogurt
1 cup half and half
1 cup sugar
Directions:
Mash blueberries and combine with remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Freeze as directed.

Lime Vanilla Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients:
two 32-ounce containers whole-milk plain yogurt
1 vanilla bean
1 teaspoon finely grated fresh lime zest
6 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1/2 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup superfine granulated sugar
Directions:
Strain yogurt for about 8-12 hours. Pour off the whey (liquid in bowl).
With a knife halve vanilla bean lengthwise and scrape out seeds. In a blender puree vanilla seeds, half of drained yogurt, and remaining ingredients. In a bowl stir together vanilla mixture and remaining yogurt.
Transfer mixture to ice-cream maker and freeze. Transfer frozen yogurt to an airtight container and put in freezer to harden up a bit.

Peanut Butter Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients:
1/3 cup chunky peanut butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups skim milk
1 (1 1/3 ounce) envelope dream whip whipped dessert topping mix
1 cup plain fat-free yogurt
Directions:
In a medium bowl, combine peanut butter, brown sugar and vanilla; set aside
In a small bowl, gradually add milk to dry whipped topping mix; stir or whisk until well mixed
Gradually whisk into peanut butter mixture; then add yogurt
Freeze:
(pour and freeze prepared yogurt in an 8 inch square baking pan, cover with foil; freeze until solid (1-2 hours) break frozen mixture into pieces and process in food processor just until soft. Optional- repeat freezing and beating 1-2 more times
OR (pour prepared yogurt into a metal mixer bowl, cover with foil; Freeze 2 hours or until firm at edges and semi-soft in centre; beat with electric mixer on med-high until soft; Optional- repeat freezing and mixing 1-2 more times)
Yield 1 quart (8 servings).

Chocolate-Chip Raspberry Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients:
3 cups unsweetened frozen raspberries
2 cups fat-free plain yogurt
1/3 cup granulated sugar (or to taste)
1 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup mini chocolate chips
Directions:
Process raspberries, yogurt, sugar, and vanilla until smooth in food processor. Pour into ice cream maker and prepare according to manufacturer’s instructions, adding chocolate chips in the last 5 minutes of freezing OR see tips under “No Ice Cream Maker?”
Variations:
For chocolate-chip strawberry frozen yogurt, substitute unsweetened frozen strawberries.
For chocolate-chip banana frozen yogurt, slice and freeze 2-4 bananas, depending on size, and substitute 3 cups frozen banana slices for raspberries.

Fresh Peach
Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients:
1/3 cup of fresh peaches, peeled and chopped
2-1/2 cups of plain, whole milk yogurt
1/2 cup of raw sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Directions:
Combine all the ingredients, chill them for 2 hours, and then churn the confection. Light, fresh, and creamy, this frozen yogurt is bound to be one of your favorites.

Honey-Lemon
Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients:
2/3 cup of honey
2 tablespoons of lemon juice
1 teaspoon of grated lemon rind
pinch of salt
2 cups of plain, whole milk yogurt
2 egg whites
Directions:
One of my favorite frozen yogurt recipes! Honey and lemon go together beautifully in frozen yogurt. The honey gives the dessert a smooth texture and natural sweetness, while the lemon imparts a bright snap to the taste. To make this delightful delicacy, combine the first four ingredients in a heavy enameled or stainless steel saucepan over medium heat and stir them until they’re well blended. Then set the mixture aside to cool.
Next, mix in the yogurt and chill the concoction for 2 hours. Then beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form, gently fold them into the yogurt preparation, and churn the dessert in a two-quart freezer.

Matcha (Green Tea) Frozen Yogurt

Ingredients:
1 cup homemade yogurt or plain whole milk yogurt
1 teaspoon matcha (green tea) powder
1/4 cup powdered sugar
Directions:
Mix small amount of yogurt with tea and sugar to make smooth mixture. Incorporate into rest of yogurt and mix well until completely blended.
Chill in the fridge for a few hours then churn the mix in the ice cream machine/frozen yogurt maker according to the manufacturer’s instruction.

The Worms Crawl In,
The Worms Crawl Out,
Into your stomach,
And out your mouth.
They eat your intestines,
They scramble your heart.
Now you feel like
You're all apart.
This is how
It is to die
You end up looking
Like apple pie!

"Ah.  Nothing says halloween and spooky-ness like a little bit of gross worm slime.  Fortunately, this drink has a slimy name, but the cocktail itself tastes delicious.  Green and sweet, you need skittle infused vodka to make it work.  Its super easy and very much worth the effort though."

Make it:
1.5oz Skittle infused Vodka

1oz lemon lime soda

1oz orange juice

Super wormy right? haha not really.  Pour all your ingredients in a shaker with ice and shake away.  Pour into a chilled martini glass and garnish with candy gummy worms.  Yum!
